Shark North (Sea Wolf 2) - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Bruno Krauss خلاصه: Winter 1940 — and a lone U-boat glides silently up a Norwegian fjord, its cargo more deadly than the torpedoes in its hull. Its mission: to land a civilian on the deserted coast of Norway. Its orders: from the Fuhrer himself. And for Baldur Wolz — the man they call Sea Wolf — it is a mission that will test his courage, his daring and ruthlessness to the utmost. His vicious battles with the enemy above he expects. But they are nothing to the silent horrors of the enemy within... Shark North is the second in the gripping series of novels about the U-boat war waged with grim ferocity in the bitter depths of the world’s oceans.

Global perspectives on the biology and life history of the white shark - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Michael L Domeier خلاصه: With this book comes a historic change in the context of White Shark research. The relatively low abundance of this species, combined with its exceptional size and predatory nature, equated to a fish that was very hard to study. The introduction of White Shark research papers always included an obligatory statement that this species is rarely the focus of comprehensive studies and little is known of its basic biology and life history

Biology of sharks and their relatives (2nd Edition) - Original PDF
Biology of sharks and their relatives (2nd Edition) - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Carrier, Jeffrey C.; Heithaus, Michael R.; Musick, John A خلاصه: We developed the content and published Biology of Sharks and Their Relatives (Volume I) because of a need for an updated, timely reference volume on the biology of sharks, skates, rays, and chimaeras. In the Preface to that first volume, we noted that little in the way of comprehensive summaries of chondrichthyan biology had been done since the volumes of research papers produced by Perry Gilbert in 1963 and 1967. Sharks and Survival and Sharks, Skates, and Rays, at that time, provided a comprehensive examination of shark research and served as points of departure for future studies. It was over 20 years after the publication of Dr. Gilbert’s edited volumes that Elasmobranchs as Living Resources, edited by Wes Pratt, Sonny Gruber, and Toru Taniuchi, was published in 1990, followed nearly a decade later by Will Hamlett’s extensive review (1999) of the anatomy and fine structure of elasmobranch fishes.

White Mother to a Dark Race - Original PDF
White Mother to a Dark Race - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Margaret D. Jacobs خلاصه: In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, indigenous communities in the United States and Australia suffered a common experience at the hands of state authorities: the removal of their children to institutions in the name of assimilating American Indians and protecting Aboriginal people. Although officially characterized as benevolent, these government policies often inflicted great trauma on indigenous families and ultimately served the settler nations’ larger goals of consolidating control over indigenous peoples and their lands. White Mother to a Dark Race takes the study of indigenous education and acculturation in new directions in its examination of the key roles white women played in these policies of indigenous child-removal. Government officials, missionaries, and reformers justified the removal of indigenous children in particularly gendered ways by focusing on the supposed deficiencies of indigenous mothers, the alleged barbarity of indigenous men, and the lack of a patriarchal nuclear family. Often they deemed white women the most appropriate agents to carry out these child-removal policies. Inspired by the maternalist movement of the era, many white women were eager to serve as surrogate mothers to indigenous children and maneuvered to influence public policy affecting indigenous people. Although some white women developed caring relationships with indigenous children and others became critical of government policies, many became hopelessly ensnared in this insidious colonial policy.
