Family Therapy Supervision in Extraordinary Settings: Illustrations of Systemic Approaches in Everyday Clinical Work - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Laurie L. Charlés and Thorana S. Nelson خلاصه: I am in the U.S., en San Diego, California. It is the fifth state where I have made my home since I migrated de Colombia hace 18 años. I arrived here in California less than a month ago after joining the faculty of the Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) program en San Diego State University with the pros- pect of developing a bilingual (Spanish-English) MFT training track that includes supervision in Spanish. The university is located on the land of the Kumeyaay. I am in front of my office del North Education Building. I am relishing the company of the comforting San Diegan weather; me recuerda al clima de Colombia. I am sitting on a wooden bench. It is painted with an image of a paved road heading toward a white orb of sunshine high above the point directly above where the road ends. On the left-hand side of the road, words, alternately red and white, declare: “concentration,” “perseverance,” “graduation,” and “expectations.” And, on the right, equally assertively: “optimism,” “determination,” and “grades.” These could very well be considered to summarize the tenets of the Western, U.S., Eurocentric, neoliberal rhetoric of desarrollismo or developmentalism (Escobar, 2007), expressed in an education that promises progress and success in the era of English (Mizumura, 2015)

Eco-Informed Practice: Family Therapy in an Age of Ecological Peril - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Tracey A. Laszloffy, Markie L. C. Twist خلاصه: This innovative book examines how family health and well-being have been impacted by increased alienation from the natural world and calls for greater incorporation of ecological issues into therapeutic practice. Positioning environmental activism as a critical social justice issue, the book highlights the unique opportunities for family therapists to promote reconnection, healing, and sustainability by integrating attention to nature and the environment into their work. Contributors also recommend clinical ideas, strategies, and interventions that can be employed as part of this approach to therapy, research, and teaching. Among the topics covered: Developmental benefits of childhood experiences with nature Applications of indigenous healing methods in Western practice Wilderness and adventure therapy immersion Clinical, educational, and supervisory applications of an eco-informed approach to therapy The first work of its kind to address the overlap in environmental and family sustainability in the field of family therapy, Eco-Informed Practice: Family Therapy in an Age of Ecological Peril fills a significant gap in family therapy literature. Students and professionals in mental health fields will find this book an enlightening perspective on family therapy as well as a set of useful guidelines for implementing this exciting new approach in clinical practice.

Socioculturally Attuned Family Therapy: Guidelines for Equitable Theory and Practice - Original PDF
Socioculturally Attuned Family Therapy: Guidelines for Equitable Theory and Practice - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Teresa McDowell, Carmen Knudson-Martin, J. Maria Bermudez خلاصه: It would be difficult to find a family therapist today who does not believe culture and societal context are important. Sometimes the effects are obvious; a woman seeks therapy for depres- sion and we quickly realize she is embedded in a relationship that strips her of dignity and voice. This woman’s plight can be linked to a broader society in which women are systemati- cally disempowered. A gay couple living in a conservative rural community turn the effects of their oppression inward, heightening conflict between them. White members of a biracial family fail to understand the full impact of racism on those they love, creating tension between them. Other times the effects are less obvious; a white, upper-middle-class, heterosexual cou- ple argue over one of their spending habits, or a teenage boy in a seemingly stable middle-class family acts out in the community
